The Difference Between HE and Regular Detergent

Each machine is different. For every washing machine, there are different designs, components and parts. This variation makes it easy for people to find themselves making mistakes and getting things wrong. This is something that most people will want to avoid. To try and make sure that this is the case, we’re going to be taking a look at the difference between high-efficiency (HE) detergent, and it’s a regular counterpart.

Understanding The Difference

There are quite a few differences when you look at HE and Regular Detergent, and we’re going to make sure that you’re entirely sure of them.

The first thing that you need to understand when it comes to high-efficiency detergent is that the HE washing machines work a little differently to normal ones. They require a soap which generates less in the way of suds. When you use a regular washing up liquid inside the HE machine, you run the risk of damaging it and the clothing inside, so be careful!

What Happens When…

When you’re considering putting the wrong kind of detergent inside a machine and just leaving it to chance, you should know that a couple of different things will happen depending upon the situation.

As previously stated, putting regular detergent into a high-efficiency machine can result in the excess production of bubbles and suds, which can damage the inner workings. And you can’t even get away with just using less of the detergent – the machine isn’t designed to create fewer suds. Unfortunately, no matter what you do in the situation you’re going to cause a problem.

However, doing things the other way around isn’t as hazardous. A high-efficiency detergent can be used quite safely inside a regular washing machine. In spite of this, you need to bear in mind that you may find yourself unable to use as much because the HE detergent is going to be much more powerful and requires a smaller dosage. Always check the label for information on what to do if you are not sure. It’s also worth noting that the machine isn’t actually designed to get rid of the excess detergent, and all the extra suds that are left over can attract dirt and soil, so make sure that you do not overdo it.

All in all, it’s clear that HE detergent is not the same as regular. There are some pretty big differences which can change how you use the substances in your wash. Naturally, you don’t want to cause any kinds of damage to the machine or to your clothes, which is why you have to be careful. Always read the labels on things too – it can make all the difference for people who want to try and wash their clothes without necessarily having the correct tools to do so. You may find that you’re doing more harm than good to yourself, and that’s obviously something you don’t want to happen. It’s important to know the difference because it can mean a lot when washing.
